Easter Break with the Family

Like Christmas, Easter is first and foremost a family party. But when it comes to tourism, Easter offers an additional benefit, not least because of the already spring-like temperatures.

What is the best way for a family to celebrate Easter? So that both children and adults will be satisfied? The almost “classic” answer to that is Berlin. The German capital offers something for all tastes, and strictly speaking, there is nothing impossible.

Who has never been to Berlin should see to get an accomodation in the City. How about the Casa Camper in the vibrant district “Mitte”? From there, it is not far to Berlin’s Museum Island and to the Alexanderplatz, and a stroll to the Brandenburg Gate is not a problem either.

Of course, the Casa Camper has – in spite of its name – nothing to do with camping. Rather, it is an individual City hotel with a walk-in minibar, where, if required, a separate crib is provided.

You do not think that Berlin is suitable for children? Well, then spend the night at the zoo. More precisely: at “Hagenbecks Tierpark” in Hamburg. Yes, you have read correctly. Right next to the long-established zoo, there is the newly opened Lindner Park-Hotel Hagenbeck.

I do not need to tell you much about the zoo, as it has made children’s eyes light up for generations in Hamburg and Northern Germany – and those of both young and old tourists too. The hotel is surely on a par with it and delights parents with extensive spa facilities and a truly international gastronomy.

Last but not least I have got a recommendation which lies more to the south. I am talking about the Germans’ favorite holiday island, Majorca, a worthwile destination especially at Easter.

Like everywhere in Spain, also in Majorca the Semana Santa (“holy week”) is one of the yearly highlights. Particularly worth watching is the procession of the penitents, who march through Palma, the capital of the island, every year on Holy Thursday.

A reasonably priced hotel in the town center is the Urban Rustic Palacio Avenida. It has friendly staff and a tasteful furnishing, and not only adults will feel at ease there.

But no matter where you spend the Easter holidays – in the circle of your family it will be twice as much fun.
