Menaggio, on Lake Como’s western shore, was originally a walled city, some of which remains. The town is colorful; and the central piazza is lined with restaurants, shops and bars. Walking on the lake front is a popular activity. One of the town events is the Menaggio Guitar Festival every summer, which attracts famous and international guitarists. Its Menaggio and Cadenabbia Golf Club is well known and was founded by a gentleman from England who loved to spend his holidays in the area in the late 18th century. Lenno appears to be a sleepy town, but it comes alive on Fridays and Saturdays when the local restaurant/bar Lido becomes a hot nightclub where visitors can dance on a covered dance floor or on the beach. Tour the Villa Balbianello, which presents a look at the lifestyle of one of the richest men in Italy. There are also two churches dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. Lenno is famous for its olive oil, which is hand-made and available in many local restaurants.

Bellagio is located on a promontory dividing the southern part of Lake Como and is regarded by many to be the most beautiful of Italy’s towns. It appears as a magical wonderland to visiting tourists. Folks gather around the harbor at night to enjoy the celebration of “La Dolce Vita”. Bellagio is Lake Como’s main hub for water transportation, and from there you can go to all the major area attractions by public ferries or private luxurious motor launches.

At the Tourist Office you can book a guided tour to the Villa Serbelloni and the Villa Metzi and the Villa Carlotta with their wondrous gardens which are open to visitors. Villa Serbelloni also has indoor and outdoor pools as well as a spa with a beauty center. The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni became a luxury five-star hotel back in 1873 and boasts of frescoed ceilings, impressive staircases and a Grand Hall with Murano glass chandeliers. At the Villa Carlotta there are sculptures by Canova, the greatest Italian sculptor. The Villa Balbianello has incredible beauty and an ancient church on its waterfront.
