Wheel Adventure

Matt Getze just wrote to introduce me to his site Wheel Adventure Travel. I especially appreciate the motto, "Oil. Tighten. Pack. Roll."
How many mishaps I could have avoided by not skipping the first two steps!!

I grew tired of researching online for hours upon hours and coming up blank. I'd research for photos of the hotel entrances to see if they were in fact accessible - if the hotels had steps at the entrances or ramps. Generic, stock photos on travel sites didn't reveal much. Matter of fact, a lot of hotels mentioned in travel sites indicated that hotels were handicap friendly or had "facilities for disabled" travelers. When I checked out those hotels in person, they were not accessible at all. But, some hotels that were not indicated as being wheelchair accessible were accessible.I deliberately set out to find budget hotels that were handicap accessible. I took pictures of the entrances to see if they would meet the "wheelchair accessible" criteria and then personally asked the hotel staff if the hotels had wheelchair accessible rooms; that is, a larger hotel room and a larger bathroom with either roll-in showers or bathtub with handles. I gathered a lot of information and sometimes had to resort to emailing hotels to find out the wheelchair accessibility of their hotels.
Handicap people sometimes tend to limit what they can do. I took pictures of tourist attractions, the streets, sidewalks, curbs, restaurants and neighborhoods of the various, awesome travel destinations. Use Wheel Adventure Travel to make informed, intelligent travel decisions and don't limit yourself.
